Greetings From Italy

Learning Italian is one of the ways I’m getting closer to our future life in Italy. Here are a few of the greetings I’ve been using daily — because sometimes, just saying “Ciao!” is enough to bring a little sunshine into your day 🌞

  • Ciao – Hi / Bye (informal) – (pronounced chow)
  • Salve – Hello (polite but friendly) – (pronounced SAHL-veh)
  • Arrivederci – Goodbye – (pronounced ah-ree-veh-DEHR-chee)
  • A presto! – See you soon! – (pronounced ah PRESS-toh)
  • A domani – See you tomorrow – (pronounced ah doh-MAH-nee)
  • Piacere di conoscerti! – Nice to meet you – (pronounced pya-CHEH-reh dee ko-NO-sher-tee)
  • Buongiorno – Good morning / Good day – (pronounced bwon-JORE-no)
  • Buon pomeriggio – Good afternoon -(pronounced bwon po-meh-REE-jo)
  • Buonasera – Good evening – (pronounced bwoh-nah-SEH-rah)
  • Buonanotte – Good night (when going to bed) – (pronounced bwoh-nah-NOT-teh)
