My Little Taste Of Italy On My Doorstep In Scotland

There’s something about Italy that speaks to the soul—sunshine, scooters, slow mornings with coffee, and flowers cascading from every window box. While I’m still in Ayrshire, waiting for the right moment to make Italy my forever home, I’ve carved out a tiny slice of la dolce vita right here at home.

This week, I parked our little blue Vespa-style scooter outside the caravan and couldn’t help but smile. It felt like a scene straight out of Rome or a Tuscan village. Hanging flower baskets sway gently in the breeze, the sun warms the decking, and I sit with an espresso in hand, pretending I’m at a sleepy Italian café.

The magic of Italy, I’ve found, isn’t just in the destination—it’s in the atmosphere we create. It’s the way the light hits a white railing, the sound of birds in the morning, and yes, even the joy of a checkered Scooter waiting to take you somewhere new.

“How can you bring a little of your dream destination into your everyday?”
